Motor Control Centre Design & Manufacturing
An MCC control panel has to do more than distribute power to a bank of motors. Its design affects protection, motor control, installation, maintenance and how easily the system can support future changes.
IPA Control Systems designs and manufactures Motor Control Centres around the motors, loads and control requirements of each project. Our team can work from approved engineering or take the MCC through electrical design, manufacture, Factory Acceptance Testing and documentation.
We manufacture MCC’s in South East Queensland and supply projects across Australia.
MCC Control Panels Built Around Your Motors
A Motor Control Centre brings the power distribution, protection and control of multiple motors into one electrical assembly.
The internal configuration depends on the equipment it needs to operate. An MCC can incorporate motor protection, contactors, control equipment, VSD/VFDs, soft starters and interfaces with PLC, HMI or other automation systems.
IPA manufactures MCCs for industrial systems involving pumps, motors, production equipment and automated processes. Each build starts with the electrical load and control requirements rather than a standard panel configuration.
MCC Design Starts With the Electrical Requirements
The motors are only one part of the design.
Our experienced team reviews the information that determines how the MCC needs to be engineered, including:
- Motor quantities and ratings
- Load requirements
- Incoming electrical supply
- Fault requirements
- Motor control method
- VSD/VFD and soft-starter requirements
- Busbar requirements
- Cable entry and termination
- PLC, I/O and communication requirements
- Panel location and site conditions
- Access for installation and maintenance
- Allowance for future equipment
We can produce the electrical documentation required to support manufacture and installation using EPLAN, including schematics, general arrangement drawings, component schedules, cable schedules, I/O lists, termination schedules and as-built drawings.
The result is an MCC control panel engineered as part of the electrical system it will serve, rather than an enclosure designed in isolation.
Already Engineered or Need MCC Design Support?
IPA Control Systems can support MCC control panel projects whether the engineering is complete or the design still needs to be developed. The level of involvement depends on what you already have and what is needed to take the panel through manufacture.
Build From Your Existing Design
If the engineering is complete, IPA can manufacture a control panel from your approved drawings, single-line diagrams, BOM, motor schedules and specifications.
This gives system integrators, engineering companies and electrical contractors a dedicated manufacturing partner while keeping the wider project scope with their existing team.
MCC Design & Manufacture
If the MCC still needs engineering, IPA Solutions can provide the electrical design and carry the project through manufacture, testing and final documentation.
Keeping engineering and manufacturing within one team gives the workshop direct access to the drawings and project requirements that shape the finished build.
MCC Control Panels Built, Tested & Ready to Connect
An MCC control panel should reach site ready for the installation team to connect and commission.
IPA builds each MCC control panel in-house, covering assembly, power and control wiring, termination, labelling and final inspection. Each build is design-verified to AS/NZS 61439, with thermal performance and fault containment addressed through the compliance process.
Before dispatch, the control panel undergoes Factory Acceptance Testing, which can include continuity, insulation resistance and functional testing against the customer specification. Test records and inspection documentation are supplied with the finished build.
This process has helped IPA maintain a 0% installation rework rate.

Proven MCC
Manufacturing Experience
6 MCC Panels for a 33-Pump & Motor System
For Real Pet Food Company in Yatala, IPA manufactured six MCC control panels and three HMI control panels for a raw material handling system supporting 33 pumps and motors.
The MCC control panels provided the central motor control for the system, while the HMI panels gave operators the interface needed to monitor and control the equipment.
IPA completed the full panel fabrication, Factory Acceptance Testing, testing and commissioning, delivering the complete system fully validated and ready for operation.
Why Choose IPA for MCC Manufacturing?
- Switchboards Up to 2,000A: IPA can manufacture electrical switchboards and custom panel assemblies up to 2,000A.
- AS/NZS 61439 Design Verification: MCC builds are engineered with compliance, thermal performance and fault containment addressed before dispatch.
- In-House Engineering, Build & FAT: One team can manage the project from electrical drawings through manufacture and final testing.
- EPLAN-Certified Electrical Design: IPA can provide structured schematics, schedules and as-built documentation with the completed build.
- Australia-Wide Supply: MCCs are manufactured at IPA's South East Queensland facility and supplied nationally.
- 14-Day Average Turnaround on Suitable Builds: IPA reports a 14-day average from approved drawings where standard off-the-shelf items are used.

Start Your MCC Control Panel Project Today
Have your MCC control panel requirements ready? Send our team at IPA Solutions your drawings, single-line diagram, motor schedule or specification and our team can review the build, identify any gaps and confirm what is needed to move into manufacture.
If the design is still taking shape, involve IPA earlier. We can work through the motors, loads, controls and site requirements before taking the panel through design, build and testing.
FAQs
What is an MCC control panel?
An MCC control panel, or Motor Control Centre, is an electrical assembly used to distribute power to, protect and control multiple motors from a central location. Its configuration can include motor protection, switching equipment, drives, soft starters and automation controls depending on the system.
What information does IPA need to quote an MCC?
Useful project information can include drawings, a single-line diagram, motor schedule, specifications, BOM, load information, motor-control requirements and site conditions. If the engineering is not complete, IPA can review the available information and determine what is still required before manufacture.
Can an MCC include VSDs and soft starters?
Yes. IPA’s control panel manufacturing capability includes VSD/VFD drive panels and soft-starter assemblies, which can form part of the motor-control requirements for a wider system.
Can an MCC integrate with PLC, HMI or SCADA systems?
Yes. Motor control and automation can form part of the same wider control system. IPA manufactures MCC, PLC, HMI and SCADA panels and has delivered projects that combine motor control with operator and automation interfaces.
Can IPA supply MCC control panels Australia-wide?
Yes. IPA manufactures MCCs at its Luscombe workshop in South East Queensland and supplies completed panels to projects across Australia.
